Hanging By A Moment

The nurse stood in the door way to the young blonde's room. She'd been there about four hours and she hadn't woken up yet. The woman left a message on the answering machine. "Hey Gil, boys, we got a girl down here at CCMC that sure does look a lot like your Caitlyn, y'all oughta come on down here and check this out."

When they heard the message they hurried to the hospital. When they arrived they were told they had to wait a bit.

"Boys," a nurse called to them as she came down the hall. "Why don't you come see if this is her."

They nodded and followed the nurse to the room, Jeff ghasped when they saw that it was thier sister.

"Let me warn you," said the nurse. "You can tell she's pretty beat up, but there is also evidence of sexual assault."

Jeff's eyes started to tear up when they heard that.

"There's really not much we can do until she wakes up," the nurse said.

Jeff and Matt sighed and they went back to the waiting room.

"It might help if you talk to her," suggested another nurse. "Let her know she's not alone."

Jeff nodded and when to her room and sat next to her.

Caitlyn's chest just barely rose and felt, partly aided by the breathing tube that was in her mouth.

Jeff binked back tears "Hey Caitlyn." he said softly.

Caitlyn gave no response. Not a movement, not a sound, nothing.

Jeff felt tears falling as he tried again "Caitlyn its me Jeff."

Caitlyn's heart monitor picked up a bit at the name. To the doctors, this was a good sign.

Jeff tried again "Caitlyn please open your eyes please me and Mattie are worried about you."

Caitlyn groaned softly, eyelids fluttering in a failed attempt to open.

"Please Caitlyn for me and Mattie please wake up." Jeff begged.

Caitlyn groaned again, trying hard to open her eyes, groaning when she found she couldn't. She whimpered softly

Jeff started to cry softly, he hated seeing his sister like this.

Finally Caitlyn's eyes slowly opened, scanning the room slowly before she began to whimper.

"Caitlyn your awake." Jeff said.

Caitlyn glanced around the room again, whimpering. How did I get here? she thought.

"Caitlyn." Jeff said softly as he looked at Matt worriedly.

Caitlyn turned and looked at Jeff, whimpering softly.
