Look at yourself in the mirror every night and ask yourself if you did your best.9 True satisfaction comes from getting the job done. Another interesting and somewhat shocking revelation was how much Winters soured on the military once the war ended. He lead by example. One can easily detect the strong contribution Winters had on Ambrose's work.

Sometimes I wondered how it was that if Winters was so involved in helping to provide info for Band of Brothers and so revered both Ambrose and his men, how he could have allowed some of the inaccuracies to stay in that work - or at least not point them out here. Ironically I think Murphy's is the more introspective and more humble. Also, if anything this reverie gives us another one of the newer perks this account adds to the myriad of resources on the 101st.One such perk is the bigger role certain members of Easy played from Winters perspective. It must be noted that Winters lacks Ambrose's gifts as a writer; his style is somewhat technical but still interesting. Now all I did was work---work to improve myself as an officer, work to improve my soldiers as fighters, and work to develop them as men.
